Why I Identify as an Entrepreneur First, Attorney Second
For many in my profession, the title of “attorney” is the primary identity, with business ownership being a secondary necessity. I have always viewed it through the opposite lens. I define myself as an entrepreneur who simply chose the law as the vehicle for my entrepreneurial ambitions. This shift in perspective is the reason Armada Law operates less like a traditional law firm and more like a high-performance “Justice Engine”.
Law as a System, Not Just a Service
My journey didn’t start in a courtroom; it began with the co-launch of Omni Healthcare. That experience was a masterclass in systems, processes, and scaling - lessons that are rarely taught in law school but are vital for building a sustainable business. While many lawyers focus solely on the “craft” of law, my entrepreneurial background pushed me to focus on the “delivery” of law.
I believe that justice and profitability are not opposing forces; they are aligned through disciplined leadership and client-centric innovation. By viewing Armada Law through an operator’s lens, I’ve been able to implement a “People-First, Process-Driven” framework. This ensures that while we provide elite legal expertise in personal injury cases, our backend operations are engineered for maximum efficiency and consistent results.
Cutting the Anchor of Outdated Models
The “entrepreneur-first” mindset requires a willingness to challenge conventional wisdom. In the legal industry, we often see “anchors” - inefficient, lawyer-centric models that hinder growth and frustrate clients. My mission, which I share through the Cut the Anchor podcast, is to encourage legal leaders to abandon these dead weights in favor of modern, scalable practices.
At Armada Law, this means focusing exclusively on personal injury law to maintain deep expertise while expanding our operations to serve South Carolina, North Carolina, and Georgia. It means prioritizing Execution Intelligence - the ability to turn a legal strategy into a measurable, disciplined action plan that secures the best possible outcome for our clients.
Building for Human Impact
Being an entrepreneur means building something that lives beyond yourself. My daily motivation stems from a personal philosophy of helping individuals - both my clients and my team - grow and become their best selves. Whether we are sponsoring local organizations like the Greenville Swamp Rabbits or mentoring other attorneys on building better businesses, the goal is to make a lasting impact.
By identifying as an entrepreneur first, I am able to approach every case and every business decision with a focus on long-term value, innovation, and, ultimately, justice. The future of the legal industry belongs to those who are willing to think like builders. At Armada Law, we are proving that when you combine world-class legal expertise with an entrepreneurial soul, you create a firm that is truly built to last.
